Bachelorette Party DIYs: Tassel Banner

February 4, 2021

Welcome back! On today’s episode of how can I make a big mess with tissue paper, we are making tassel banners!

bach diys tassle banner

I know.. I know… they sell these things everywhere and they are super cheap, why make them yourself? Well, you don’t have to. They sell these banners at the dollar store with easy to follow instructions. But if you’re like me, you have the materials and you want to make it extra special, and that’s what I did.

What you’ll need:

-Multicolored tissue paper

-scissors

-tape

-cardstock

-twine

-hole punch (or you can use the trick I taught you during the word banner DIY)

Steps:

To make these tassel banners different, I decided to add some of my bride’s bachelorette iconography onto each banner. I organized them as so:

-pink tissue paper with copper cardstock wine glasses

-white tissue paper with gold glitter cardstock rings

-gold tissue paper with white glitter cardstock cowboy boots

Different Colored Tissue Paper

In Cricut design space, I picked out my 3 images (wine glass, ring, cowboy boot) and resized them to be close to the length of the tassels (5.5″ tall). Here you can add those circles and attach them to the images so it cuts out the holes that twine will go through. If not, you will need to use a hole punch after they are cut.

cricut icon

I set each color to match their cardstock and then I went to cut. Set the project number to 6 or 7, depending on how long you want your banner to be, and go.

The order for the banner will be icon, tassel, icon, tassel, icon, tassel, icon, tassel, icon, tassel, icon, tassel, icon.

While the images are cutting, I began work on my tissue tassels. I unfolded the tissue paper long ways (it will still be folded in half hot dog style) and cut it into sections based on the folds already in the paper.

Then, on each section I cut, I cut 6 additional strips that stopped about 1.5″ from the top fold.

I repeated this on all the tissue paper till I had 6 sections with 6 strips of each color tissue paper.

To make the tassel, you unfold each section and twist the middle real tight and then fold the section back on itself. Then separate out the strips a paper so the tassel is fluffier.

Now you have your icons and your tassels, it’s time to assemble.

Cut your twine to be the length of your desired banner (mine ended up being about 6.5 ft).

While assembling, I first strung up the icons by themselves and space them out how I would like it. Then I went back and added the tassels.

To add the tassels, you fold the tissue sections over the twine so the twisted part is resting on the twine. Then you take a long piece of tape and wrap it around the tassel just under the twine to hold it on the string. Repeat this for each tassel section and then each separate banner.

And done!

Bachelorette Party DIYs: Word Banner

February 3, 2021

On part 2 of my Bachelorette Party DIYs Tiktok series, I show you how I made my word banner using my Cricut.

Bach DIYs Part 2

My best friend, the BRIDE, is from Texas but currently lives in Florida. She is coming back to the lone star state for her Bachelorette party (because Texas girls have way more fun).

I am planning a winery weekend in Fredericksburg with some Texas southern spice added on. Itinerary coming soon!

What you’ll need:

–Glitter Card Stock

-Twine

-Scissors

Steps:

For Cricut users, I started in Design space and typed out the phrase I wanted to cut. For this sign, I am doing “Let’s Make Pour Decisions”.

I added the holes for the string to go through and attached them to each individual letter. You could also skip this step and just use a hole punch, but this ended up working out perfectly.

attaching circles to letters

After all the letter were attached and resized, I updated the colors so that “pour” was in contrast white glitter while the rest of the words were gold. Then I went to cut, set the Cricut to “glitter cardstock,” and began the cut.

cut letters

While all the letters were cutting, I measured out the twine and cut to the length I wanted to use. Using a mirror on the wall as reference, my twine ended up being about 6.5 ft. I cut two strings this length.

I highly recommend using twine for these types of banner because of the loose fibers. These fibers prevent the letters from sliding around while hanging or transporting the sign.

After all the letters are cut, lay them all out and arrange them how you would want them hang. Then begin assembly. Since the holes are precut, this part is super simple.

And ta da!

Bachelorette Party DIYs: Confetti

February 2, 2021

Welcome to part 1 of Bachelorette Party DIYs! This series is in conjuncture with my Tiktok series, but here I will explain more of the steps on how I made my DIYs (without all that blogging backstory)

Bach DIYs Tiktok

First up is Confetti!

This is a super simple starting off point. You can use confetti to line tables or surfaces as well as put it in gift bags or use it as a prop for some photo boomerangs.

What you’ll need:

-multicolored cardstock

-cricut (which is what I used) or hole punch/scissors

–Light Grip Cricut Mat

*Disclosure: I only recommend products I would use myself and for my business. All opinions expressed here are my own. This post may contain affiliate links that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.

Steps:

For Cricut users, I started in design space and found some simple images that fit the theme and I could cut rather small

-Lips

-Ring

-Heart

confetti shapes

The plus side of choosing the ring is that you also get a perfect circle out of the middle which can also be used for a confetti piece. No waste! Yay!

I set the size of the confetti to 1/2″ and then I duplicated the shapes for the number of different colored cardstock sheets that I had, so for mine, 4.

Once I went to cut my project, I set the number of “copies” to 100. You need enough to make a statement. If you choose to make more, just keep increasing that number.

Then I go to cut, set my material to medium cardstock and go!

Alternate Steps:

For non cricut users, get those scissors ready because this could be a lot of cutting. I recommend choosing simple shapes if you want to cut them yourself or if this is a big project, you may want to purchase shaped hole punchers. I’ve linked a few below.

Then you can go crazy with your hole punches, scissors, etc. Just be sure to choose plenty of fun cardstock colors!
