Bachelorette DIY: Streamer Photo Backdrop

September 29, 2021

Not going to lie, I originally thought making this steamer Photo Booth backdrop was going to be so much easier than it turned out to be. I don’t want to give you any false impressions from the get go that this was quick and/or easy. It look me about 3 separate weekends to finish once I actually started to put together the final product, and one additional weekend of failing miserably to make it a simpler way.

Bachelorette DIY Streamer Backdrop

So let’s start with what you’ll need for this project and then I’ll tell you about my Pinterest fail and how I actually completed the backdrop

What You’ll Need:

  • Plastic rectangular tablecloths (I got about 16, 4 of each color) – 108″ x 54″
  • Metallic tablecloth
  • Plastic grid netting
  • Streamers
  • Scissors
  • Push pins (optional)

My Pinterest Fail

My initial plan was to cut the tablecloths into strips of streamers (like what you would hang in a doorway), and then I would attach those strips of streamers to a background table cloth and use that to hang it. Here is the Pinterest pin that gave me the idea:

I cut 3 of the tablecloths and laid out my base before quickly realizing:

1. My base tablecloth was way too weak and was going to rip if I added additional weight to it

2. I was going to need way more tablecloth streamer strips than I initially planned.

It was a great idea from the original creator which is why I’m sharing their how-to, I just didn’t plan/execute it well. So I regrouped and swallowed the idea that I was going to have to do the individual streamers in netting that I had seen in other DIYs.

How I Did It:

I started by unrolling the fencing and measuring out the size of the backdrop I wanted. There were going to be 8 girls at the party and I wanted all of us to fit nicely in front of the backdrop, so my final measurements ended up being 6.5 ft x 8 ft. Then I used push pins to hang it up on a wall. This made it easier to attach the streamers and visualize the final product, but you could do this from the floor.

Then for the streamers, I started with thee tablecloths. I unfolded the tablecloths and refolded them in such a way that I can cut multiple streamers at once. See image below

I didn’t take pictures of this step, so please enjoy this gif I made

Repeat this for however many tablecloths you need. I recommend cutting more than you think you need.

Then, for a change in texture I used real paper streamers. I cut each strip 4’ in length and set those aside. I did end up using each roll of streamers from the linked set above.

4ft streamer section

Now that all the streamers are cut and ready, its time to assemble. To achieve the layered look “easily,” make sure you start from the bottom and work your way up.

I tried using those gold doorway streamers and it was a fail

To attach the streamers to the fencing, I pulled one streamer diagonally through 2 squares and then let it hang. I didn’t tie them off. The streamers were long enough that they weren’t going to fall off. And then keeping them loose gave the illusion of more volume.

I did one color at a time and placed them horizontally. Not necessarily in a straight line, I tried to create texture by doing a wavy line. Then, to start the next horizontal line of streamers, I moved up about 1’ on the fencing and started the next line. This saved time and I didn’t need to fill in all of the fencing because of the length of the streamers.

And repeat! I mapped out the general area and colors ahead of time but ended up winging it as I went. Make sure to mix in metallics to add texture and dimension.

Final product was light and pliable enough to fold up like a blanket and easily transport to the Airbnb. Then to hang, I just put up 3 command hooks on the wall and hooked the fencing. It was super easy to set up. I left netting available at the top to attach to balloon garland, but in my “The Party” post, I explain how we only had an hour and a half to set up. I didn’t have time to put balloons at the top of the backdrop, but the general set up took 10 mins.

Here’s the link to the balloons I attached to the front. I just tied small pieces of string that came with the balloons through the netting. I was actually able to do this ahead of time and just inflate them when I got to the airbnb (that’s type A planning for you).

Bachelorette Party Amazon Necessities

September 23, 2021

Honestly, there are so many things I use on a regular basis from Amazon that I consider necessity, but for the sake of this article, I’m going to narrow it down to party essentials and bachelorette party essentials.

*Disclosure: I only recommend products I would use myself and for my business. All opinions expressed here are my own. This post may contain affiliate links that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.

My Party Planning Amazon Essentials

My top 5 items for Parties from Amazon:

Electric Balloon Pump

1. Electric Balloon Pump: This thing is number one on the list for a reason. Not only does it come with fun party extras but you will use this pump for every future balloon arch you attempt to make. And it has 2 settings, one for inflating individual balloons as needed and one to keep the inflation on and you can inflate 2 balloons at once.

Ring Light

2. Ring Light: This item was a hit at my most recent bachelorette party! All the girls went home after and purchased their own because this one was so amazing. We used it for our photo booth and we used it as a stand for any group photo we wanted.

3-Tier Beverage Fountain

3. 3-Tier Party Beverage Fountain: This is my new favorite party accessory and its an easy statement piece. My lesson for you though is don’t use a carbonated beverage. Looking back, that probably should have been common sense but I was rushing.

Can Coolers

4. Tahoe Bay Can Coolers: These are my go to can coolers for an event. I’ve used these inn various colors for birthday parties, baby showers, bachelorette parties, and more! Great quality

2 Pack Black Easels

5. 2-pack Easels: These are great for signage at any party/event. I used these for my wedding and my friends wedding as well as painting parties. They are stronger than they seem but I would definitely weight test before using.

My top 5 items for Bachelorette Parties from Amazon:

What I bought: Bachelorette Party

1. “BRIDE” Balloons: these are a classic, but this size is perfect for above a king bed. I’ve linked a few other word balloons that are fun for bachelorette parties as well!!

2. 12 Pcs Reusable Bags: I used these as favor bags for the girls. I just added vinyl of each girl’s name. Super easy and affordable for a large group. And they are decent sized reusable bags.

3. Color Changing Cups: Another hit! I’ve bought these for other parties as well (Preston’s 30th Birthday boxes) and they are always a favorite and easy to customize with vinyl. And they come in bulk for cheap.

4. Heart Shaped Sunglasses: So cute! And they photograph so well. I’m linking 2 different kinds because they are both adorable and fitting for the bachelorette theme. They also sell these in bulk as well!

5. Drink Pouches: Last but not least, these are a trendy party staple and also really easy to customize with vinyl. They also come in bulk and with straws and a funnel.

Bonus: here are the links to my favorite flowers on Amazon. I’ve used these for my Valentine’s party décor, my DIY champagne wall for my wedding, multiple baby showers and for the Fredericksburg Bachelorette Party.

Bachelorette Party DIYs: The Party!

September 12, 2021

The past 8 months of planning and DIYs have come together to create the perfect bachelorette weekend for my bff bride and her closest friends.

The bride and 4 of her bridesmaids live in Florida, but she wanted a Texas bachelorette party filled with wine, two-stepping, and southern hospitality. So that is what I gave her…

The Location

Fredericksburg, TX

Historic Fredericksburg is located in the beautiful Texas hill country. It is unique with German flavor in its quaint bakeries, Main Street Boutiques and generations-old peach orchards. This area is also home to one of the countries largest viticultural areas, making it a girl’s trip destination for the 100s of wineries open to the public.

If you want learn more about Fredericksburg or plan a trip, check out this site. They have the best info and the cutest blog. A lot of my vendors came from this site.

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the perfect airbnb for our group of 8. It was ½ a mile from Main Street, the perfect amount of private and still close enough to town for meals and shopping. It has a pool and a hot tub and the perfect set up for a bachelorette party.

What We Did

I am a type A personality and proud of it, but because of that, I had nearly every second of the weekend planned, so I’m just going to give you a brief overview as well as the cute Itinerary I made.

Elaine's bachelorette itinerary

Day One

First, I picked up the Florida girls from the Austin Airport (Austin is about 1 hr 30mins from Fredericksburg, San Antonio airport is about 1 hr away). The bride’s lunch request was Torchy’s Tacos, so we went straight there. The diablo sauce was a little too spicy for their Florida palettes but the tacos were a hit!

Then we made the hour and half drive into Fredericksburg. Once on Main Street, I dropped the girls off to do some shopping while I met up with the 2 other Texas girls at the Airbnb. We gave ourselves an hour and a half to decorate the house and get it ready for the bride’s arrival and here’s how it turned out:

DIY Tassel Photo Booth Backdrop with Yee Haw Bitches balloons
Bachelorette Party customized and individualized reusable gift bags for favors
DIY individualized charcuterie cups for each person as a welcome gift
Custom Bachelorette Party cookies from Nann’s Cupcake Kitchen
Drink Fountain set up for Bride’s Arrival
Bride Balloons for Bachelorette Party

For dinner, we all got dressed up in our cow print and fringe for Western Theme Night. We ate at Western Edge Kitchen and Cocktails. Highly recommend their Mango Jalapeño Margarita and Mediterranean Salmon Salad!

After dinner, we walked across the street to Crossroads Steakhouse and Bar to get our country dancing on. Unfortunately, there was a 90s cover band playing but we still had a good time. The bride got to show off her custom denim jacket and cowboy hat.

Day 2

We had a bit of a schedule to follow for day 2 so we were up early for breakfast at Squeeze In. I called ahead to get our party on the waitlist since it was a large group and it was perfect because our table was ready and waiting when we got there.

The main event for the day/weekend was the private wine tour! I booked the tour through Texas Tipsy Tours and they were super accommodating and easy to communicate with. Included with the tour purchase was a Mercedes Sprinter van, private driver, reservations made at each winery, and complimentary (needed) waters.

The tour picked us up from our airbnb and our first stop was Augusta Vin Winery:

Here we got a 5 wine tasting. The service is slower so we were given more time here, but our tables was outside in the Texas heat so extra time was not really something we wanted. The wine was good and it was a beautiful first stop.

Next on the tour was Baron’s Creek Vineyards. This was the perfect second stop. We were. Seated in one of their newer tasting rooms with air conditioning! This was another 5 wine tasting, but since the place was crowded and service was a little slow, we got a bottle of Rosé and a charcuterie plate for the table. The outdoor area of this winery was perfect for (drunken) pictures

Last stop on the tour was Fat Ass Ranch & Winery. This is the quintessential last stop for any girl’s trip wine tour. They specialize in sweet wine. There are typically food trucks and live music and their frozen wine cocktails are the perfect finale to the day. You might even spot a living donkey mascot from the parking lot.

After the wine tour, we rallied at the house to go back out to dinner at Tubby’s Ice House. Our theme for night two was the classic all black and bride in white. We had the best meal for after a day of drinking and the best service at Tubby’s.

Day Three

Our last day in Fredericksburg was much more chill. The theme for the day was “Dress like the Fiancé,” so I bought and made everyone custom fishing shirts (since the bride’s Fiancé works on fishing charters). Then we paired those with jean shorts and Fiancé face tattoos.

We went to brunch in the morning at Sunset grill. Their boozy cold brew and the Sunrise Rita were the perfect hair of the dog for a morning after drinking. I recommend joining the waitlist through Google before going. They don’t text you a confirmation like it says but they text when your table is ready.

After brunch, we went back to the house and prepped for a pool party day. We blew up a bunch of pool floats, set up party pong by the pool, and made cocktails. As a last surprise for the bride, we filled a rose piñata with shooters and beaded alcohol earrings as take home gifts.

This was a perfect recovery day from the weekend. An alternative for anyone who might not have partied to hard on the wine day is to float the river (a Texas summer staple). Medina River Company is about 45 mins away from Fredericksburg and from there you can rent tubes and they will drop you off and pick you up at the Medina river.

For our last dinner in Fredericksburg, we made our way over to Social Haus for “the best pizza in Fredericksburg.” We also cleared out their dessert fridge trying everything on the menu.
