As “Friends” plays in the background, I’ve chosen to write my first blog post instead of putting away the laundry or prepping for work tomorrow. It has been a heck of week and crazy weekend and now, instead of winding down, I’m ready to share with the world my favorite type of procrastination: crafting.
My family Christmas party was this past Saturday, and it was a big one – my dad was showing off his new house for the first time to the fam, my husband and I were just recently married and this would be our first party as newly weds, and my brother was introducing his new girlfriend to everyone.
So I felt I needed to show up prepared.
I spent the past week making Christmas ornaments as a talking piece for the party and a take home favor. These ornaments are all over Pinterest and instagram this year because, honestly, they are super simple to make and photograph super well (see below).
I got the ornament making kit from Michaels as a Black Friday doorbuster, but they are still reasonably priced for the amount of gifts you could make. Then I added a vinyl decal made with my Cricut, and lastly I hot glued ribbons to the tops of each.
I boxed them up with a little gift fluff and handed them out at the end of the party. Instant hit! Now I just hope I didn’t set an expectation for each party…
